A Comedian’s Take on Amblyopia “Treatment”


You know from our VisionHelp Amblyopia Library that the binocular approach to amblyopia therapy has gained wider traction. Here in San Francisco, at the COVD/OVDRA meeting, Dr. Scott Lewis will be giving a continuing education lecture on the importance of the binocular approach to therapy and the movement away from occlusion and the monocular emphasis.

Dr. Robert Lederman shared with me a video from a comedian with amblyopia, who perfectly captures the archaic approach to amblyopia that, until recently has persisted in “modern medicine”. It’s well worth the three minutes to watch Tyler Boeh’s take on this:

  1. Has anyone told him about vision therapy? I just want to send him a personal message! He is spot on that we wouldn’t treat anything else the way traditional doctors have been treating amblyopia. Thanks for sharing!
