Neuro-Ophthalmology and mTBI

Earlier this morning I posted a link to an article on our practice’s Facebook page that has already attracted well over a thousand readers.  The article was authored by a neuro-ophthalmologist at the Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Eric Singman.

In addition, there is a nice PDF available online of a short article Dr Singman authored  on Vision Therapy and Traumatic Brain Injury.  Dr. Singman was co-author of a chapter in the textbook Brain Injury Medicine on Evaluating and Treating Visual Dysfunction together with with William V. Padula, Vincent Vicci, Raquel Munitz, and W. Michael Magrun.

  1. Dr. Singman has also published about binocular vision disorders associated with Lyme disease. Johns Hopkins University Hospital isn’t ready to hire a Neuro-Optometrist, but Dr. Singman does work cooperatively with those of us in Maryland. One of his colleagues, Dr. Michael Repka, has also been known to refer for vision therapy pre- and post-strabismus surgery. It’s an important start.
