The literature on this fascinating mind-body connection is mostly in gastroenterology literature, so one might say that you have to develop a gut feeling for this, pardon the pun. Yet that is true in all of healthcare practice these days, where one has to temper clincal data with instinctual feelings and experiences. Uveitis has previously been associated with IBS, and this new article signals the importance of transdisciplinary considerations in disorders of the mind and body at the intersection of irritable eyes. There may be a number of common mediators including stress, inflammatory, and/or autoimmune factors.
