ovp1-4_coverjpgWe’ve devoted lots of space in our blogs to visual attention.  Add to that body of material an excellent article that was just published today in the journal Optometry & Visual Performance.  Visual Attentional Deficits in Reading Disability adds to the increasing body of literature substantiating that while phonology rules the day regarding reading problems, there are select indviduals for whom difficuilties with visual spatial attention seriously limits the ability to read.  So many of our patients come to us with issues related to reading, as well as issues related to attention, and articles like this lend further substance to the array of therapeutic techniques that we apply.  And while we’re at it, there is another excellent article in this issue that complements this article — Visual Impediments to Learning.
