Sacks in the City

A couple of months ago I previewed the Oliver Sacks Festival in New York City this weekend.  Here is a penetrating exchange between Oliver and Bill T. Jones on April 17.  It begins at about the 29:00 minute mark.

After Jones quotes from something that Sacks said about the soul, Oliver remarks: “Well, that was written about 20 years ago, and I’m not sure I agree with it anymore”.

The following video is from one of the opening sessions of the Festival, principally involving music neuroscience and music therapy.  The substance begins at the 7:00 minute mark.

Here is an overview of the entire program, and it is remarkable.  We had tickets to attend yesterday afternoon’s session in which Sue Barry, Ph.D. participated, entitled Stereoscopy & Kinetic Vision.  This seemed particularly relevant in terms of the intersection of stereoscopic 3D (S3D) and film making, and I was very much looking forward to a trip into The City, but alas other plans got in the way.  I’m hoping there will be a YouTube of it that I can share with you.
