Mind Hacks and Medical Foibles

One of my favorite books of the past couple of years has been Mind Hacks, a blend of neuroscience and psychology.  When you think about it, just about everything we do in vision therapy has elements of neuroscience, psychology, or both.

The books’ authors, Tom Stafford and Matt Webb also have a great blog and their piece yesterday caught my eye.  The video they cite, Animated Psychiatry, touches on some of the discussions we’ve been having about medical viewpoints.  These views can be as limiting for patients at times as they are liberating at other times.  They note that paradoxically the film portrays professionals with degrees other than “MD” stereotypically even while  pleading the psychiatrists’ case for getting more respect in Dangerfield-like fashion.
